ESOC was first formed in July 1965, and it was one of the first orienteering clubs in Scotland with membership open to all. The club is affiliated to the Scottish Orienteering Association (SOA) and has club membership of British Orienteering, the national governing body of orienteering.

You do not need to be a member of a club to participate in orienteering, but joining an orienteering club brings many benefits. As well as information and social events, membership gives contact with people who will share their enthusiasm for the sport, and their experience, giving support and guidance when needed. If you wish to join ESOC, you will be very welcome.

We try to arrange coaching sessions roughly every 6 weeks outside main holiday periods. General format of the sessions is a group warm-up; split into different groups for coaching; all get back together at the end for a punching relay (which the adults usually win!). Within each session, we plan individual coaching activities at all levels from white to green so can accommodate everybody.
