Planner’s Comments

Dry and windy for this CATI event – so we were very grateful – but what a wind!!  Would the control at the top of the hill blow away, or all my map memory cut-outs disappear over the horizon?  No such problems and a very successful event with excellent turnout of about 150 people and 80!! ESOC members in the woods that afternoon running, helping or involved with the Junior training. I grew up in this neighbourhood so remember Cammo when there was still a large, very scary big house with old lady and dogs in residence and then as a teenager camping and sledging in the woods and fields.  And yet there were still areas I had never seen before when it came to planning – and that was fun – getting to know the woods in a different way and from a different perspective.  I enjoyed setting up the Map memory and I was really pleased that some of the Juniors used this in their training exercise on the day.

I very much enjoyed my involvement and many thanks to Alastair for his guidance and help on the day, to Janet for boundless energy and enthusiasm and huge thanks of course also to Jamie who helped me in the planning and on the day.
