Corstorphine Hill, 12th April 2008

It was great to see so many people at this event.  Unfortunately the weather wasn’t very good, and the registration area swiftly became a quagmire.  There were plenty of smiling faces at the finish though, despite the mud and rain, and we hope you’ll come again.
See the website http://www.eastofscotlandorienteering.org for details of future events.
Note that the wet weather made some control cards almost illegible, so if we have any of your details wrong, please let us know.

Planner’s comments

The conditions were certainly much wetter underfoot on the day than when I was out looking for control sites. It didn’t seem to make much difference to the winning time on Green, however.

I found it quite difficult to plan White and Yellow courses with which I was satisfied, using the north western part of Corstorphine Hill. There are numerous paths, but it isn’t easy to link them to provide an interesting and decent length course without making compromises. I hope that my eventual offerings satisfied everyone.

Sorry I couldn’t be at the event. I was pleased to hear that comments at the end suggested people had enjoyed their courses despite the April showers and underfoot conditions.
