Orienteering is great fun when it's warm and dry and the sun is shining. Weren't we lucky to coincide with the first (or perhaps the second) day of spring. The Mary Erskine is one of our best areas for introductory orienteering, with its combination of open grass, woodland and a few tricky bits among the buildings, and it was great to see people from the whole range of age and skill levels enjoying it. It was good to be able to play around/stand and talk/discuss the routes afterwards without having to rush back to the cars to avoid hypothermia; let’s hope there will be many more lovely sunny days of orienteering in the coming months.

Apologies to all those on the light green and orange courses who were affected by the misplaced control no 203. It came about through a series of errors that started with the controller’s broken arm – not really a good enough excuse. Everyone who missed that control has been reinstated in the results.

It was wonderful to see so many people at Dalmeny to take advantage of the spring-like weather on this lovely estate and a full range of courses of all standards of difficulty. Only the mud was the same for everyone! New faces, well-known faces, all ages from six weeks old to over eighty; everyone was here today. I’d like to give a special welcome to everyone who came as a result of the advert in Primary Times – and to hope you enjoyed it and will be able to come again.
