Mary Erskine and Ravelston Woods, 7th Jun 2008
The sun shone brightly for our local event at Mary Erskine School/Ravelston Woods yesterday (Sat 7th June). Alison Cunningham had planned the courses and a good number of competitors turned out despite this being an otherwise ‘O’ free weekend in the area. The competitors were mainly families and it was a perfect setting for a family afternoon of exercise and enjoyment. After the orienteering many people stayed on in the grounds to enjoy the sunshine and the sandpit (ok, so it was a jumping pit during school hours) and to picnic.
This area doesn’t provide the greatest orienteering challenge but for a Saturday afternoon of relaxation, with the added bonus of some good orienteering courses, it can hardly be beaten.
