Sprint O Results from Kinneil Wood
Links to RG / WinSplits are from the link above! Unfortunately the two finish units used were not on precisely the same time, leading to a few oddities in the results. I haven’t changed any splits but I have altered the overall results slightly, both Gary Longhurst and Jeni Rowe have moved up one place because of this. There were some others who, given the difference between the units, may have finished a place higher depending on unseen fractions of a second, if you feel this affects you please get in touch.
Apologies for this situation, we should have had a single unit and a marshal making sure people punch it in the order they finished, lesson learned.
Hopefully you all thoroughly enjoyed your day, thank you all for coming :)
Comments from Dan (Planner)
A few memories of planning Kinneil… stumbling through Kinneil Woods with a roll of insulating tape and staring up through iced glasses at an inverted clipboard with two inches of snow on top…Janet preparing signs that stated that running over the surface of the loch was not a route option…a tesco bag full of dog turds…knife wielding school children that ran round the yellow course 4 times and then begged to be allowed to help Ian load his car with T-bars… clearing out a depression of branches to mark with a T-bar that was on the master map but not in any of the courses…scaring a way two more school children on horses from the middle of the prologue… attempting to test run the prologue at night and then running away home after reaching the church yard.
Whatever my worries about the quality of the courses; there was a good buzz at the event but the best return for effort comes from the yellow when beginners of all ages come back with a smile on their face.
Comments from Clive (Controller)
An excellent outcome and a commendable first event planned by Dan. From the controllers perspective the best feedback is hearing runners commenting on their route choices and not the accuracy of the controls, fairness of the legs or the map. In addition to the hazards mentioned by the planner I could add clearing the broken glass from control sites and avoiding neds doing wheel spins on the grass in their hot hatches.
