New to Orienteering?
Orienteering is an exciting outdoor adventure sport which involves navigating around a course using a detailed map and sometimes a compass.
The aim is to navigate between a set of control points and decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time.
It does not matter how young, old or fit you are, as you can go at your own pace.

ESOC have qualified for the CompassSport Trophy Final, following a good turnout for the Scottish heat, and some great results.
A few ESOC members travelled to the Lake District for a weekend of events, and brought home two trophies from the British Night Championships, plus several medals.
Edinburgh University Orienteering Club’s Big Weekend had a Sprint theme ahead of WOC 2024 - it was a great weekend with some excellent results from ESOC members.
ESOC’s Burns Night festivities featured a score orienteering activity in and around the Burdiehouse Burn, Liberton, followed by the legendary ESOC Burns supper. Eleanor Pyrah (planner of the orienteering) sent this report.
The annual Hair of the Dog event saw an excellent turnout of ESOC members; more being in attendance than any year in recent memory. It was cool and dry overhead, but very muddy/wet underfoot particularly on the grassy areas. Once underway however it was very pleasant indeed!
We organise a regular programme of local orienteering events, regular junior coaching sessions, weekly club training for members and also club socials. In addition, we organise larger orienteering events at regional and national level, some of which are further afield in Scotland. Why not come and join us?
