BLACKFORD HILL, ESOC’s First Post-Lockdown Event

STOP PRESS - POSTPONED until September

We were very excited at the prospect of putting on our first post lockdown event at Blackford Hill in a couple of weeks however the promised go-ahead due this week from the Edinburgh Rangers/Parks Department has not been forthcoming. They advise that the decision will be reviewed W/C 24th August.

We have everything ready to go but we have no alternative but to postpone the Blackford Hill event until a date, hopefully, in mid-September.  When we have a confirmed date we will prepare a new web item with the specific details for the event.

Disappointing though this decision is we absolutely MUST conform to all current Government guidelines as well as following the plans agreed between Sportscotland and SOA for putting on orienteering events. We also respect the cautious line being taken by the Rangers/Parks Department.

When it does eventually go ahead this will be a 'Local Event' but with many differences from previous local events, including the restriction to ESOC members only and pre-entry and pre-payment only.   We’ve left the cartoon on this item as it will still be relevant to the rescheduled event. We hope this helps you understand a few of the new elements we are introducing and perhaps gives you a flavour of some of the obstacles and changes we are having to manage.
