Results
Thank you to everyone who joined us today, hope you had fun!
Hope nobody was too confused by the odd-even Score. There was one scenario that wasn't in the rules, if you missed a control out you got a 2min penalty rather than a DSQ.
Lost Property: A pair of nice black gloves was left on the big log near the Lodge. Contact Janet Clark to get them back: Organiser O131 225 7771

Registration & Start Times
REGISTRATION: This will be from 1.30pm to 3pm either in or next to the Estate Lodge. Please note the slightly earlier start time. It gets dark early at this time of year so we've brought the times forward by half an hour to give people an opportunity to come earlier and get finished earlier. It is not necessary - or possible – to pre-enter for this event. Everyone is very welcome, just to turn up. Please try to come and start early if you think you might take a long time over your course - it still gets dark very early at this time of year and we need to get the controls in before it gets too dark. Controls will be brought in from 4pm promptly.
START AND FINISH will be close to the Lodge. Start times will be from 1.30pm to 3pm. NOTE the slightly earlier start time for this event.
COURSES CLOSE at 4pm promptly so it is essential that you report to the Finish by 4pm, even if you have not completed your course.
Course Information
There will be White, Yellow and Orange courses and a course for more experienced orienteers. This is an excellent area for beginners and improvers and it can be used by more experienced orienteers for training.
Explanation of colour courses
- White are very easy with all controls on paths. They are mainly used by 6-10 year olds and family groups.
- Yellow use simple linear features like paths, walls and streams. They are mainly used by under 12’s and family groups.
- Orange progress to basic use of the compass and route choice. They are ideal for novice adults or experienced youngsters.
- Light Green are ideal for improvers as the navigational difficulty begins to increase and uses simple contours and point features.
- Green are used mostly by experienced under 18’s and adults wanting a short but challenging course with a very hard navigational difficulty.
- Blue are a longer, more physically demanding course in comparison to the green. The distances are more varied between controls and the course attracts experienced orienteers.
- Brown & Black are very physically demanding and have a very hard navigational difficulty. They are for experienced orienteers only.
