Permanent CoursesIn or near Edinburgh

ESOC has seven permanent orienteering courses in and around Edinburgh. These courses have fixed marker posts in place. These are all suitable for families or individuals to walk, jog or run.

To obtain a pdf version of your chosen permanent course map and instructions to print at home, or to get a permanent course pack (containing a waterproof map and a copy of the instructions) sent to you by post, please contact Janet Clark via email to email hidden; JavaScript is required
Each map pack contains
- a map showing all the control points
- a description of each of the control sites
- suggestions for combining them into courses of varying lengths and difficulty
At each control site, there is a small plate (usually on a wooden post) showing a number and a letter, and your aim is to match the letters to the numbers.
Alternatively, download the MapRun app and try the many virtual courses that are set up at many of the locations. Simply download the MapRun app onto a smartphone, print a copy of the map and go and have a run!
