Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

East of Scotland Championships and SoSOL 7, 2023Corstorphine Hill, 19 November

The 2023 ESOA Championships was organised by ESOC, in conjunction with the seventh event in this year’s South of Scotland Orienteering League. This was also the ESOC Club Championships, and there was a huge turnout from ESOC.

Corstorphine Hill is a Local Nature Reserve on the west side of Edinburgh, and has been the venue for many orienteering events. It is mostly wooded, with a good path network, and has some steep slopes on the east side, open grassy areas on the west side, and lots of crags and boulders throughout the area. The map has been updated and extended to include a small urban area on the NE side, giving some new terrain for the longer courses.
The weather had been quite wet in the days before the event, so underfoot conditions were very muddy, but luckily the weather on the day was dry and bright.

Congratulations to all the ESOA champions from ESOC:
Sebastian Bleakley (M10), George de Candole (M14), Calum Robertson (M16), Luigi Lerose (M45), Martin Caldwell (M70), Ianthe Bleakley (W10), Emma Daley (W12), Amy Brodie (W14), Sarah McAdam (W35), Alison Harding (W60), Sally Lindsay (W65), Margaret Dalgleish (W70), Eleanor Pyrah (W75).

Further details about the event, plus full results, including Routegadget, are available on the Corstorphine Hill SoSOL page of this website.
