ESOC at the 2018 Home Internationals
ESOC members were in the Scotland teams for all three of this year’s Home International competitions.
The Home Internationals are annual competitions between selected teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, with an individual event and a relay over a weekend, plus a social event on the Saturday evening. There are 3 different competitions: the Junior Home International (JHI) for M/W14-18, the Senior Home International (SHI) for M/W20-21, and the Veteran Home International (VHI) for M/W35-65.
The 2018 SHI took place on 8/9 September at Hurstwood, SE of Burnley, organised by Pendle Forest Orienteers. The terrain has complex spoil heaps separated by rough moorland. ESOC’s Laura Robertson was in the Scotland team. In the individual event, she came 6th in W21E, and in the relay, she ran 1st leg for the Scottish A team, who came 3rd. England won the overall competition, and Scotland came 2nd.
