ESOC at the 2022 JHISpeyside, 8/9 October

Scotland won the Junior Home International, and an ESOC junior was in the team.

The Junior Home International is an annual competition for selected teams of M/W14-18 from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, with an individual event and relays over a weekend, plus a social event on the Saturday evening. Calum Robertson (M14) was in the Scotland team.

The JHI Relays were on Saturday 8 October at Loch Vaa, organised by Interløpers, and the Individual race the next day was at Creag Dhubh, organised by Badenoch & Strathspey Orienteering Club. Both of these areas are very technical, and Sunday especially was hard going for the younger competitors.

England had a narrow lead of 4 points after the Relays. Scotland did well in the tough terrain on Sunday, winning the Individual event by 13 points to take the overall win.

The Relay results are available in the JHI Relay news item on the INT website, and the Individual event results are in the Creag Dhubh event item on the BASOC website.

There's an interesting report from the JHI on the SOA website.
