Scottish Championships success
Last weekend saw the Scottish Championships held in Rannoch Forest, there was a strong ESOC contingent present and there were some fantastic results!
The Scottish Championships weekend was held in Rannoch Forest, last visited by many at the JK in 2000. In the individual competition held on Saturday the 29th of May it was the trio of ladies, Rona Lindsay (W16A), Eleanor Pyrah (W65L) and Norma Coutts (W70L) bringing home the silverware after all winning their respective classes! Fiona Findlay (W60L) and Euan Mackenzie (M21L) were both 3rd. Congratulations all!
The relays were held on the same area, with many visiting similar bits of the forest as the day before and as with the individual there were some very good performances. In the handicap 18+ category there was a clean sweep of ESOC teams in top 3 with very dubilant trio of Ian Pyrah, Alastair Lessells and Crawford Lindsay taking 1st place in the ‘MouldESOCs’ team. 2nd went to the ‘FurrESOCs’ team of Roger Scrutton, Janice Nisbet and Dave Kershaw, with the ‘SmellESOCs’ (Margaret Dalgleish, Sally Lindsay, Les Dalgleish) team taking 3rd, they must have been running faster to try to escape from their sock odour! The junior team of Rona Lindsay, Andrew Lindsay and Craig Nolan couldn’t quite keep pace with the speedy all-male teams of SYO and Interlopers and took an impressive 3rd place in the tough M/W48- category.
One of the success stories of the year is the position our female relay team(s) in the UK Relay League. Prior to the Scottish Champs they were lying 4th, hoping to reproduce some of the form from the JK and British to climb into the top 3, sadly it wasn’t to be, but a solid 8th place allowed them to stay in 4th overall! Well done to all involved; Helena, Rona, Helen, Sarah and Gemma. I’m sure they will be hoping to improve on this position next year! Well done to you all.
