Scottish Junior Cup – Round 2Tentsmuir North, 29 August
ESOC juniors enjoyed the second event of the league for Scottish juniors.
The Scottish Junior Cup is a league of three events during the spring and summer of 2021, offering a set of high quality, fun, and competitive races, open to all junior orienteers in Scotland with age classes from M/W12 to M/W18. Results from each race will count towards an overall league for each age class, with all 3 races to count for final positions. The series is being planned and organised by parents of juniors in the area squads and ScotJOS.
The second event was at Tentsmuir North on Sunday 29 August, organised by East area, with several main officials from ESOC: David Robertson (organiser), Bill Stevenson (controller), and Keith Brown (computing). Tentsmuir Forest is at the mouth of the Tay estuary, near Tayport, and is a large area of plantation forest with a network of tracks and paths. The terrain is generally quite flat, with intricate contour detail on parallel lines of steep sanddunes.
Rachel Brown again had ESOC’s best result, winning W18 (the Blue course). The other ESOC juniors were Maja Robertson (W16), Megan Brown (W14), Calum Robertson (M12), Rebecca Daley (W12) and Emma Daley (W10).
Full results are available on the Junior Cup - Tentsmuir page of the Scottish Orienteering Association website.
Round 3 will be at Anagach, Grantown on Spey, on Sunday 19 September.
