Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

Scottish Sprint Championships 2010 - King’s Buildings, Edinburgh - 6 March 2010

There was a large turnout from ESOC for this event, as it was so near at hand, and it was very enjoyable.

The 2010 Scottish Sprint Championships event was organised by Interløpers on the University of Edinburgh science campus. The courses called for quick decision-making, as there was plenty of route choice round the many and varied buildings. The most obvious route was often not the best, and many people were caught out at various points. It was cloudy, but bright and dry – good orienteering weather. The excellent facilities in the student union building were appreciated by all, with much post-race analysis and socialising over refreshments.

Congratulations to the ESOC members in the top half of the results:
M16-50 (90 competitors) – Andrew Dalgleish 11th, Mark Wood 28th, Ross Sanderson 37th, Andrew Lindsay 39th, Martin Quirke 41st
M55+ (22) – Roger Scrutton 3rd, Crawford Lindsay 4th, Ian Pyrah 7th
W16-50 (57) – Helen Bridle 2nd, Rona Lindsay 11th, Claire Ward 14th, Sarah O’Neil 22nd, Gemma Richards 26th
