Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SOL 6, 2019Teviothead, 13 October

The final event of the 2019 Scottish Orienteering League was organised by Roxburgh Reivers, and many ESOC members travelled south, with some excellent results.

Teviothead is in the Borders, south of Hawick, and is remembered by many as the scene of the 2012 CompassSport Cup Final, when the weather was atrocious - wet and windy. This time the forecast was not quite as bad, but there were a few showers, and some mist. The terrain is open moorland, mostly grassy, with lots of confusing lumps and bumps, some long climbs, plenty of marshes and a sprinkling of small crags. There were some good views between showers, and some good route choice legs.

ESOC members in the top half of the results for their course were:
Brown (17 competitors) – Sarah Jones 5th
Blue (36) – Keith Brown 11th, Crawford Lindsay 12th, Helena Nolan 14th
Short Blue (25) – Peter Halling 3rd, Roger Garnett 6th, Hanne Robertson 7th
Green (42) – Alison Cunningham 1st, Sally Lindsay 14th, Roger Scrutton 18th, Alastair Lessells 21st
Short Green (35) – Ian Pyrah 1st, Mary Williams 3rd, Anne Stevenson 8th, Eleanor Pyrah 9th, Rhona Fraser 10th, Janet Clark 16th
Light Green (13) – Maja Robertson 1st
Orange (19) – Margaret Dalgleish 8th, Fiona Findlay 10th
Yellow (7) – Calum Robertson 1st

Full results, including Routegadget and comments about the event, are in the Teviothead SOL news item on the Roxburgh Reivers website.
