SOL3 - 2012Battan, 13 May
The third event in the 2012 Scottish Orienteering League was organised by INVOC, and saw a modest ESOC turnout, with some good results nonetheless.
Battan is near Kiltarlity, to the west of Inverness. It’s a hilly commercial forest with complex contour detail, varying forest density and many rock features. Underfoot conditions varied too, with some areas of windblown trees, marshy parts, and some runnable areas. It was very windy and quite wet in the parking field, though surprisingly sheltered in the forest itself.
ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
Brown (22 competitors) – Andrew Lindsay 4th
Blue (44) – Rona Lindsay 4th, Crawford Lindsay 13th
Short Blue (30) – Ian Pyrah 8th, Alastair Lessells 12th
Green (45) – Margaret Dalgleish 11th
Short Green (26) – Eleanor Pyrah 3rd, Jim Clark 5th, Janet Clark 11th
Full results are available on the INVOC website.
