Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SOL5 - 2011Cambus O'May, 11 September

The first Scottish Orienteering League event after the summer break had a modest ESOC turnout, and some good results.

This event was organised by MAROC. Cambus O’May is near Ballater, on Deeside, and was the scene of Day 1 of the 2005 Scottish 6 Day event. It’s a challenging area, with lots of brashings following recent thinning, complex contour detail, and many unmapped boulders.
The weather was better than expected - cloudy but dry, and it was fairly wet underfoot after recent rain.

ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
Brown (25 competitors) – Andrew Lindsay 5th, Chris Huthwaite 10th
Blue (53) – Rona Lindsay 2nd, Crawford Lindsay 22nd
Green (53) – Janice Nisbet 20th (NB: having been at the City of London race the day before!)
Short Green (29) – Norma Coutts 8th, Janet Clark 10th, Jim Clark 11th

This event was also the Northern Lights Trophy competition – Andrew Lindsay won the M18 trophy, and Rona Lindsay won W18.

Full results, further details, and Routegadget are available on the SOL 5 Event page of the MAROC website.
