Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SoSOL 2, 2024Balgone Heughs, 24 March

ELO organised the second South of Scotland Orienteering League event of the year, on a fine spring day.

Balgone is a relatively new area for orienteering in East Lothian. It is a long, thin wooded area with two lochs and some big crags, avoided by the courses. The Start was at the west end of the lochs, and the longer courses had double-sided maps to make the most of the terrain.

ESOC members in the top half of the results for their course were:

  • Blue (34 competitors) – Kevin Harding 5th
  • Green (35) – Finlay Ross 3rd, Mark Naylor 5th, Tim Westmoreland 6th, Alison Harding 12th, Les Dalgleish 15th, Andrew Daley 17th
  • Short Green (12) – Margaret Dalgleish 1st, Roger Scrutton 3rd, Mary Williams 6th
  • Light Green (22) – Carolyn Dyson 11th
  • Yellow (21) – Ivy Naylor 1st, Elliot Ball 6th
  • White (17) – Ivy Naylor 1st, Hazel Naylor 6th
