Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SoSOL 3, 2019Callendar Park, 3 November

The third event in the 2019 South of Scotland Orienteering League was organised by FVO, and saw plenty of ESOC competitors, with some great results.

Callendar Park is in Falkirk, south of the town centre, and is a large area of varied parkland centred on the historic Callendar House. The terrain included dense forest sloping to the north, with some intricate detail, many gullies and ditches, and open lawns, all with a network of paths and tracks. There were wonderful autumn colours in the trees.
Unfortunately it was raining most of the time, and underfoot conditions were very wet and muddy, with wet vegetation everywhere too.

ESOC members in the top half of the results for their course were:
Brown (18 competitors) – Richard Purkis 3rd
Blue (37) – Mark Rowe 9th, Finlay Ross 10th, David Nisbet 14th, Keith Brown 15th
Green (45) – Alison Cunningham 1st, Rona Lindsay 2nd, Helena Nolan 4th, Roger Garnett 8th, Maggie Scrugham 11th, Martin Caldwell 12th, Nick Hepworth 13th, Ian Pyrah 19th
Short Green (16) – Mary Williams 1st, Dave Kershaw 2nd, Eleanor Pyrah 5th, Katy Lessells 8th
Light Green (11) – Alex Armitage 5th
Orange (12) – Fraser Lupton 1st
Yellow (15) – Calum Robertson 1st , Rowan Lawlor 3rd, Robyn Lupton 4th
White (8) – Catherine Rowe 1st, Adam Rowe 2nd
