Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SoSOL 6, 2022Callander Crags, 3 December

The final event of this year’s South of Scotland Orienteering League was arranged by Forth Valley Orienteers, at fairly short notice.

Callander Crags was the venue for the CompassSport Cup heat in the early spring this year. This area is on the steep hillside above the town of Callander, and has varied terrain including coniferous plantation and deciduous woodland as well as open moorland to the northeast, which was visited by the longer courses. There are plenty of rock features, including some very large crags, and several patches of windblown trees and other dense vegetation. The start and finish were on the lower slopes, and the courses ran anticlockwise round the area, over some steep and slippery ground with lots of newly fallen leaves.

ESOC members in the top half of the results for their course were:
Green (17 competitors) – Calum Robertson 4th, Les Dalgleish 8th
Short Green (9) – Margaret Dalgleish 3rd
