SOUL 5, 2017Tranent, Friday 19 May
East Lothian Orienteers organised the fifth event in the 2017 Scottish Orienteering Urban League, as a prelude to the Scottish Championships weekend. There was a huge ESOC entry, and some great results.
Tranent is one of the oldest towns in East Lothian, lying about 10 miles east of Edinburgh. The event centre was at Ross High School, with the start and finish nearby on the school playing fields. The courses were sprint length, and took competitors through various post-war housing estates of different styles, with many pathways between the houses giving plenty of route choice.
The weather was fine, but surprisingly cool after a warm day.

Open Women (12 competitors) – Laura Robertson 1st, Rona Lindsay 3rd
Veteran Men 40+ (18) – Terry Johnstone 7th
