SOUL 6, 2022Cumbernauld, Sunday 3 April
There were some good results from ESOC at the sixth event in the 2022 Scottish Orienteering Urban League, which was organised by St Andrew’s Orienteering Club, Glasgow.
The event was based at Our Lady’s High School, in Dowanhill Road on the west side of Cumbernauld, and the event area covered the Seafar, Ravenswood, Carbrain and Greenfaulds estates. The starts were conveniently near the parking, and courses started in open parkland before leading through complicated modern housing developments, with pathways, steps, walls and fences, and plenty of traps for the unwary. The longer courses crossed the main roads via bridges, and there were some long legs with many route choice options.
The weather was fine - mostly sunny, though cool.
ESOC results in the top half:
M Vet (8) – Terry Johnstone 4th
W Supervet (12) – Alison Cunningham 1st, Helena Nolan 5th
M Ultravet (10) – Crawford Lindsay 3rd, Les Dalgleish 4th
W Ultravet (8) – Margaret Dalgleish 1st, Sally Lindsay 4th
M Hypervet (5) – Ian Pyrah 2nd, Roger Scrutton 3rd
W Hypervet (2) – Eleanor Pyrah 1st
Results and other details about the event are in the Cumbernauld SOUL event item on the STAG website.
