Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

SOUL 7, 2017Cumbernauld, 20 August

There was a modest turnout from ESOC for the seventh event in the 2017 Scottish Orienteering Urban League, which was organised by STAG.

The event centre was at Cumbernauld Theatre, and the Start was on the edge of Cumbernauld House Park. The junior courses stayed in the park, while senior courses led through varied housing developments, with many similar pathways, steps and open areas, crossing the main roads via bridges and underpasses. The longest courses had some very long legs. The weather was fine, but grassy areas were wet after recent rain, and it was quite slippery in places.

ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
Veteran Men 40+ (10 competitors) – Walter Clark 4th
Veteran Women 40+ (9) – Heather Thomson 3rd, Helena Nolan 4th
Supervet Men 55+ (15) – Martin Caldwell 4th, Crawford Lindsay 8th
Ultravet Men 65+ (11) – Roger Scrutton 4th, Les Dalgleish 6th
Ultravet Women 65+ (7) – Margaret Dalgleish 1st, Anne Thom 3rd, Fiona Findlay 4th
Junior Women 16- (2) – Rachel Brown 1st
Young Junior Men 12- (2) – Adam Clark 1st
