STAG Score 3, 2018Strathclyde Country Park, 15 April
A handful of ESOC members ventured west for STAG’s third score event of 2018.
Strathclyde Country Park is SE of Glasgow, beside the River Clyde and the M74. The main feature of the park is Strathclyde Loch, fed by the South Calder River, whose steep-sided valley cuts the park in half. The terrain is mature woodland (often with fairly scratchy undergrowth) and open parkland, with plenty of tracks and paths.
As at the other events in the series, there were 25 controls (5 each with 300 points, 400 points, 500 points, 600 points and 700 points) giving 12,500 as the maximum possible.
There were 37 competitors in the 60 minute score. ESOC members’ results were:
Alastair Lessells – 14th (8,800 points)
Les Dalgleish – 20th (7,800 points)
Margaret Dalgleish – 24th (7,390 points)
Heather Thomson 31st (5,300 points)
And Steve Clayton came 1st (out of 2!) on the Light Green course.
Full results and comments are available here, on the STAG website.
This event was the third in a series of five. The next event is on Sunday 13 May at Cathkin Braes Country Park.
