STAG Winter Score 1, 2015Pollok Park, 4 January
A few ESOC regulars competed at STAG’s first winter score event of 2015.
The first event of the year in the Central Belt was at Pollok Park, on the south side of Glasgow. The city’s largest park, it has many tracks and paths through varied terrain including woodland, open parkland and gardens. There was a time limit of 60 minutes, with 28 controls.
Janet Clark reports: “Pollok Park was looking at its best under blue skies and bright sunshine when everyone arrived, and running conditions were pretty good; a little icy and muddy in parts but the vegetation was nicely died back. As always, a Score event provides much discussion along the lines of: ‘If only I'd .......’ The park was busy, with many families trying out their new bikes and scooters. The Burrell Collection was a welcome warm haven afterwards, and we left under darkening skies and threatening rain.”
ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
Andrew Dalgleish – 5th (13,040 points)
Heather Thomson – 9th (12,440 points)
Terry Johnstone – 16th (11,240 points)
Maggie Scrugham – 20th (10,500 points)
Margaret Dalgleish – 23rd (10,500 points)
Full results are available on the STAG Score 1 event item on the STAG website.
