STAG Winter Score 1, 2016Pollok Park, 3 January

A few ESOC regulars competed at STAG’s first winter score event of 2016.

Once again, STAG’s winter score was the first event of the year in the Central Belt. Pollok Park is in the south west of Glasgow, and is the largest park in the city, famous for the Burrell Collection and also the 18th Century Pollok House. The terrain includes woodland, open parkland and gardens, with many tracks and paths. The weather was fine, and everyone enjoyed it.

There was a time limit of 60 minutes, with 25 controls whose points value ranged from 300 to 700, and an ingenious bonus system whereby anyone who has visited all 25 controls can then visit 6 of them again for bonus points.

ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
Finlay Ross – 16th (12,500 points)
Heather Thomson – 18th (12,200 points)
Mike Stewart – 27th (10,500 points)
Heidi Ross – 28th (10,200 points)

Full results are available on the STAG Winter Score 1 event item, on the STAG website.

This event was the first in a series of 4; the others were:
STAG Winter Score 2, Drumpellier Country Park,10 January
STAG Winter Score 3, Cumbernauld Park, 17 January
