Birsemore Hill, 24 February
Birsemore Hill is south of Aboyne, on Deeside, and is a varied technical area, with vague contours on the top of the hill, and intricate areas on the steep northern slopes, where there are a lot of rock features. The lowest parts, near the finish, had seen some recent forestry work and were rough underfoot. The event centre was Aboyne Community Centre, which was a great base, providing indoor facilities including hot drinks and a cake stall. There was a long walk from here to the start and finish. The weather was fine and very mild.
ESOC members in the top half of the results for their course were:
Brown (39 competitors) – Duncan Robertson 3rd
Blue (95) – Keith Brown 45th, Finlay Ross 47th
Short Blue (46) – Peter Halling 7th, Roger Garnett 10th, Juliette Maire 21st, Les Dalgleish 22nd
