Loch Vaa, 24 September

Loch Vaa is just north of Aviemore, and this event was in the southern part of the area, with parking near Avielochan. The terrain is hummocky moraine in birch and pine woodland, giving a great navigational challenge. Courses zig-zagged through the complex contours around ridges and depressions, and the longest courses crossed the Strathspey Railway to more open terrain. There were some very long times and retirals.
The weather was fine, but turned very wet later on for the journey home.

ESOC results in the top half of their courses in the provisional results:
Short Blue (36 competitors) – Richard Oxlade 4th, Crawford Lindsay 14th
    Green (33) – Megan Brown 10th
Short Green (45) – Sally Lindsay 4th, Ian Pyrah 12th
