Bo’ness, 22 June
SOUL 7 consisted of 2 separate sprint events, with the combined times used to determine SOUL points. Both were World Ranking Events, and therefore attracted a larger than usual elite entry, including many international competitors.
The first race was in the morning, in Kinneil, on the west side of Bo’ness, centred on Deanburn Primary School. The courses covered several different areas of modern housing, with confusingly similar blocks of buildings, courtyards and alleyways, as well as large open grassy areas and the wooded valley of the Dean Burn itself, with several bridges and lots of steps.
The second race, in the afternoon, was further east, in Grahamsdyke, with the event centre in Bo’ness Academy. The terrain included the school grounds and complex modern housing, with many passages, grassy areas and barriers.
ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
W Open (13) – Laura Robertson 2nd
M Vet (17) – Jonathan Ellis 9th
W Supervet (10) – Alison Cunningham 1st
M Ultravet (16) – Martin Caldwell 5th, Roger Scrutton 6th, Les Dalgleish 7th
W Ultravet (10) – Margaret Dalgleish 2nd, Rhona Fraser 5th
M Hypervet (1) – Ian Pyrah 1st
W Hypervet (2) – Eleanor Pyrah 1st
W Junior (6) – Rachel Brown 1st, Maja Robertson 3rd
M Young Junior (8) – Rowan Lawlor 4th
