STAG Score 1, 2019

Pollok Country Park, 6 January

Once again St Andrew’s Orienteering Club (Glasgow) are organising a series of score events in the first few months of the year. The first event was at Pollok Park, in the south west of Glasgow. The terrain is a mixture of deciduous woodland and open parkland, with many tracks and paths, on low hills. The start and finish were in the Burrell Collection car park. Yellow, Orange, and Light Green courses were available, as well as a 40-minute Short Score option. On both Score courses, there were 25 controls (5 each with 300 points, 400 points, 500 points, 600 points and 700 points) giving 12,500 as the maximum possible score, which was achieved by 17 of the 60-minute competitors.

Calum Robertson won the Orange course, and Maja Robertson won the 40-minute Score.

There were 63 competitors on the 60-minute Score course, and the following ESOC members were in the top half of the results:
   Finlay Ross – 10th (12,500 points)
   Margaret Dalgleish – 23rd (11,300 points)
   Les Dalgleish – 24th (11,220 points)
   Timothy May – 26th (11,100 points)
   Janice Nisbet 28th (10,900 points)

Full results are available in the STAG Score 1 news item, on the STAG website.

This event is the first in a series. The next event is on Sunday 20 January at Palacerigg Country Park, Cumbernauld. See this news item for further details about the series.
