World Schools Orienteering Championships 2009

Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, 14-20 April

The Friendship Team race brings the competition to a close (Sunday 19th April) and Craig Nolan & his new friends, a Lithuanian and a Belgian student, finish 15th out of 155 teams.

Teams cross the river Henares on the way to the Finish.

Bronze for Rona Lindsay in the Middle Distance race (Saturday 18th April).

A forested hillside with steep slopes, erosion gullies and terraces, was used for both the Middle & Long Distance races. The forest looks to have little ground cover, ideal for fast running - where it’s not too steep!

A Spanish competitor prepares for the uphill leg from the last control to the Finish in the Middle Distance race.

4th place for Rona Lindsay in the Long Distance Race (16th April 2009)
