British Elite Sprint Championships : 9th May 2009
Bronze medal for Helen Bridle in the Elite Women’s race.
Helen Bridle (ESOC) was third in the Elite Women’s race and Interlopers Scott Fraser was first in the Elite Men’s race at the British Elite Sprint Championships held around the campus of Nottingham University. The heats were held in the morning with the finals in the afternoon. Helen & Scott also competed in the British Middle Distance Championships on the Sunday, Scott winning the Elite Men’s race and Helen finishing 4th in the Elite Women’s race, only 13 seconds outside the medals.
They now head for Hungary to take part in the GB training camp in preparation for the World Orienteering Championships later in the year.
Other ESOC members participating in the Sprint races were Andrew Dalgleish, who was 8th in the Men’s B Final, and Roger Scrutton who was one of the top three M60s to reach the Men’s C Final.
