Burns Night Social - 2010
Full details of the Burns Night Social
This year’s Burns Night will be held on Monday 1st February at Dave and Kirsteen Kershaw’s House, 9 Bright’s Crescent, Edinburgh EH9 2DB. The format of the evening is a run followed by the food and social, the latter having a Burns night theme.
RUN - If you want to come for the run please be there by 7pm ready to start as soon as possible after that. Come dressed according to the weather on the night but certainly for a winter night in Edinburgh. At the time of writing, details aren’t finalised for the theme of the run but it’s always a good idea to bring along a torch, a writing implement, a compass (just in case) and a poly pocket. The run is unlikely to last more than 45 minutes and it’s likely to be a street run.
SOCIAL – The social, i.e. the Burns night food along with general chat, will start as soon after 8pm as possible. If you aren’t running then you can come along just for the social, in which case try to be there by 7.45pm.
DEADLINE FOR LETTING KIRSTEEN & DAVE KNOW YOU ARE COMING – Please phone or email Kirsteen/Dave as soon as possible and by Thursday night, 28th January at the latest. This is very important for ordering food. Kirsteen and Dave will not easily be able to respond to phone calls or read emails after Thursday night so it’s important to tell them by then that you would like to come along. Even if you aren’t sure but hope to come along then please let Kirsteen/Dave know this.

COST – The run doesn’t cost anything and we aim just to cover the cost of the food for the social. In previous years this has been in the region of £4 per head. Please bring your money on the night and please bring CASH. It would be a good idea to bring enough cash for each member of your family for up to £5 each. We really aren’t sure of prices this year. Cash is needed as the money is simply redistributed on the night to those who have bought the food or ingredients for food.
FOOD – This will be traditional Burns night food of haggis, neeps and tatties (and clapshot) plus some suitable puddings.
Sure to be a great night so why not try to come along?
