Burns Night Social - 2012Monday 30 January
Now with full results - A report on the Burns Night social.
The Burns Supper
Many thanks to Janice for hosting a superb Burns Social with over 40 ESOC members enjoying a street run and delicious supper. The orienteering element was a score run around the local streets on what turned out to be a perfect cold and dry evening. Janice had picked out various control sites – lampposts, post boxes etc. and we had a time of 50 minutes to visit as many as possible. Gemma was the Ladies winner with Heather in 2nd place and Kathryn Kirk in 3rd. Andrew Dalgleish won the men’s competition with Andrew Lindsay 2nd and junior winner and Crawford taking 3rd place.
Jim did a wonderful rendition of the address to the haggis and the social part of the evening commenced. Traditional haggis, neeps , clapshot and tatties followed by a wonderful selection of puddings. The food was delicious and we owe a huge thank you to Janice, Brian and all the kitchen helpers for their hard work in providing such a super spread.
This social is one of my personal favourites – love haggis! - and It was good to see so many of the club out on a January evening and to welcome some new members to one of our annual traditions.
