Erskine Urban Race, 2 April 2011
The 2nd event in this year’s Nopesport Urban League, organised by Clydeside Orienteers, was thoroughly enjoyed by the ESOC members who competed.
The event centre was at Erskine Sports Centre, and the courses were in the housing estates to the south of it. There was lots of route choice through the labyrinth of pathways between the houses, as well as playing fields, woods and school grounds. All courses were imaginatively planned and had a mix of short, intricate legs and longer legs, including one right across the map. The weather was much better than expected.
ESOC members in the top half of the results were as follows:
Junior (9 competitors) – Kerry Wood 4th
Men’s Open (16) – Andrew Dalgleish 7th, Ross Sanderson 8th
Men’s Veteran (24) – Mark Wood 4th, Crawford Lindsay 12th
Women’s Open (14) – Claire Ward 1st, Rona Lindsay 4th
Women’s Super Veteran (16) – Mary Williams 5th, Margaret Dalgleish 6th, Sally Lindsay 7th
