ESOC at the 2013 SHIIreland, 28/29 September
ESOC orienteers were in the victorious Scotland team at the Senior Home International.
Congratulations to the Scotland team, who (after some confusion about the scoring system) won the Senior Home International, in County Louth, Ireland. The team travelled to Ireland on Friday evening.
The Relay was on open hillside at Carnawaddy, Ravensdale, on Saturday. ESOC’s Andrew Lindsay and Craig Nolan ran 1st leg in the Scotland Men’s 1st and 2nd teams respectively, and Rona Lindsay ran 2nd leg in the Scotland Women’s 3rd team. England won both Relay classes - Andrew’s team came a close 2nd, Craig’s came 5th, and Rona’s came 4th.
The Individual on Sunday was at Carlingford Mountain, a steep and rocky complex open area. The cloud was down on the hill, making conditions very tricky and requiring excellent orienteering techniques. Many competitors retired, but all of the Scottish team completed their courses. In M20, Andrew was 2nd and Craig 5th; in W20, Rona came 4th.
All 3 ESOC juniors contributed to the Scotland score – well done, team!
