Hair of the Dog 2012 – Report
A huge turnout for the first Orienteering Event of 2012 with about 60 runners enjoying a great reindeer-themed course around the parks and streets of Colinton. The first part of the run involved visiting control sites to ‘collect’ reindeer parts - but no antlers till you have found the head, and no head till you have a body, and so it went on – great fun. The second part then took the runners around the icy streets of Colinton to collect presents for Santa’s sledge. A huge thank you to Judy for planning (Megan enjoying many muddy planning walks) and to the entire Brown family for all their hard work in putting this event on.
The social followed in the adjacent Scout Hall – and it was good to have the whole day in one location – again thank you to the Browns for organising this. Many thanks to the soup ladies – Katy and Jackie - and to everyone for contributing to a great spread of delicious food. Thank you to Sally (and helpers?) for the table quizzes and to Katy and Alastair for the orienteering Pictionary and the newspaper game. I personally thought the Pictionary was brilliant and Heather a great asset to any Pictionary team! The traditional Teddy Bear Racing adult race was won by Norma, with Andie a great Junior winner. Norma and Andie then fought it out for the overall title with Andie coming out the winner.
