Hair of the Dog Social - 2014Thursday 2 January
A great little event and social. Read the story about the Hair of the Dog and check the results
We were very lucky with the weather and underfoot conditions for our festive ‘CluedO’ Event in Cammo Woods with no repeat of the sheet ice from 3 years ago; but slightly unfortunate, perhaps, in that the farmer had decided to plough the fields the week before – but mud always adds to the fun – doesn’t it?! Another clever O idea with elimination of names, reasons and events to work out the who? where? and why? puzzle as in the Cluedo concept. Many thanks to Gemma and Mehmet for enthusiastically agreeing to organise and run this.
The social followed in St Ninian's church hall in Corstorphine and we had a tremendous turnout to enjoy soup, buffet and games in traditional Hair of the Dog style! Many thanks to the soup makers – delicious as usual – and to everyone for contributing to the buffet. The games were a lot of fun, though ‘Devilla’ proved perhaps a little difficult for one team as the first round in O-Pictionary!
My thanks to Katie C for organising the newspaper game and for allowing the girls to win (!!) and to Judy and family for organising the map recognition and shopping game – thankfully no major bumps as everyone ran around looking for the next O-area in their shopping pathway. The culmination of the day is of course the Teddy Bear races and these were expertly run by Rona and Andrew with a clean sweep by the Mackay family with Lorna winning the junior race and dad Neil winning the seniors. A nailbiting final with Lorna beating her dad and all trophies heading to the Mackay household!!
Lots of help to clear up – thank you – and time to head home and put my feet up!
And a final thanks to Katie and Jamie for all their help and enthusiasm!
