Jamie Stevenson Trophy 2026Hermitage Woods, Stirling University, Sunday 21st June
The ESOC juniors finished in an amazing 3rd place at this years JST, with 3 podium places for Ingrid, Hamish and Emma. ESOC also won Best Supporters prize, with drumming led by Helena and Catriona for the run in.
The Jamie Stevenson Trophy is an annual Scottish inter-club competition, named after the ESOC honorary member, and former ESOC junior, who won a gold medal at the 2003 World Orienteering Championships in Switzerland. The 2026 event was held at Hermitage Woods, a small steep woodland area just outside the Stirling University campus. This year's competition was organised by FVO with volunteers from the ScotJOS coaches and parents.
The day started with the team of 16, heading to Stirling on the train and then catching the university bus to assembly.
On the train, the team and supporters, had donned red, white and green war paint and ribbons and built the ESOC flag. On arrival, they marched up to assembly, just in time for the parade of junior teams.
Over 90 juniors from 12 different clubs competed in Yellow to Green courses for the chance to win the trophy. ESOC had a young team but managed to achieve some fantastic results finishing in 3rd place (our best equal result, also achieved in 2007, 2014 & 2023) with 588 points, only 1 point behind FVO and 7 points behind INVOC, who finished in 1st place. The resulting JST prize 'horse' was picked out of a hat for Ted to proudly display.
We had targeted the best supporters prize, coming prepared with drums (plastic buckets!), cow bells, make shift vuvuzelas, bells and our voices. Our strategy was to cheer on all clubs, not just ESOC. We certainly made a lot of noise as runners started to appear at the finish and secured the bag of sweets for this award.

In the overall club competition ESOC came 3rd and the * = runners whose score contributed to the club result, but we are very proud of all the juniors who competed. The top 6 scoring runners are counted for the team result and no more than 2 juniors in any one category.
