Loch Vaa Middle Distance EventSaturday 8 October
Challenging navigation on a beautiful autumn day.
Loch Vaa is just north of Aviemore, and this event was in the southern part of the area. The terrain is delightful wooded moraine with lots of complex contours, and full concentration was needed right from the start, which was on the corner of the Laggantygown Cemetery fence. The woodland here is birch, with pine plantation further east, and courses zig-zagged around the ridges and depressions, giving a great navigational challenge.
The weather was fine, and it was dry underfoot.
ESOC results in the top half were:
Blue (58 competitors) - Helen Bridle 2nd, Crawford Lindsay 26th
Green (60) - Sally Lindsay 11th, Roger Scrutton 21st
Yellow (10) - Emma Daley 2nd
This event was run alongside the JHI Relays. Full results, along with Routegadget, are available on the Loch Vaa results page of the Interløpers website. There's also a report from the weekend's events.
