Moray 2023 Turf EventForres, Wednesday 2 August

Competitors enjoyed a foot Turf event on the Rest Day during the Scottish 6-Days orienteering week.

ESOCWalter planned this foot Turf event, Scot6Turf, which took place in the afternoon, from 15:30 till 16:15. The zones were spread around Forres, with some interesting zone shapes including a few very long ones. All were taken at least once.

Walter commented:
“The Scot6Turf event on the ‘rest’ day of the Scottish 6-Days Orienteering week was slotted into the schedule after the Trail-O at Roseisle and the Sprint race in Forres, and before the Mountain Bike Orienteering event at Altyre. So much for a rest!
The event was a chance for a number of turfers to try an event for the first time and there were orienteers from Pendle Forest Orienteers and Manchester & District Orienteering Club, for example.
The event centred around the Mosset Tavern and its beer garden in Forres, next to the Burn of Mosset, with 69 zones and all zones named after 6-Day orienteering areas, going right back to Breadalbane 1997, so including BirnamHill, RannochForest and LeachdannTNC (since LeachdannTomNaCroich was too long).
ZulatheAlien:) took an early lead, holding the five zones close to Mosset Tavern for a while, but FeTaTo closed the gap steadily and ultimately claimed victory by just 4 points!”

The prizewinners were:
FeTaTo - 1st place
ZulaTheAlien:) - 2nd place
PFOWitch - 3rd place

The event map and full results are available on the Scot6Turf Event page on the Turf website.
