Queen’s Baton Relay
Bill Stevenson carried the baton during the first Scottish day of the Queen's Baton Relay, part of the countdown to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
On Saturday 14 June, Bill Stevenson (ESOC & ScotJOS) helped the Baton on its 100,000-mile journey around the 69 nations and territories of the Commonwealth, with a short stint down the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.
For many, many years Bill has been involved in coaching juniors including ESOC, ESOA and ScotJOS (Scottish Junior Orienteering Squad). This has included many non-coaching tasks, such as organising squad weekends, Scottish teams in junior internationals, and overseas tours. He is currently Chair of JROS, the umbrella organisation for the 12 Regional Orienteering squads based on the British Orienteering Regions, which was established to further develop the junior orienteering talent nurtured by the Regional Squads.
Further details about the junior squads can be found on the Junior Orienteering page of the Scottish Orienteering Association website and the Junior Regional Orienteering Squads website.
