Scottish Championships
Last weekend saw the Scottish Championships, Individual on Saturday and the relay on Sunday, there were lots of ESOC members present and some trophies made their way back to Edinburgh…
The Scottish Championships were held last weekend in the tough physical forests of Auchingarrich and Mill of Fortune. They very much lived up to their physical nature and most times were longer than expected, partly due to storms in the preceding week. There were a number of ESOC Scottish Champions:
Andrew Lindsay, M18
Bill Gauld, M70
Jim Clark, M75
Rona Lindsay, W18
Eleanor Pyrah, W65
Norma Coutts, W70
The relay area at Drummond Castle was severely affected by the storm in the week before. Times were about 150% of what the planner (Graeme Ackland) expected and indeed what he ran a couple of weeks before the event. Nevertheless, the show must go on! There were some very good performances from the ESOC camp, most notably the team of Walter Clark, Les Dalgleish and Martin Caldwell (who was drafted in at the last minute due to an injury) who picked up the prize in the 9+ handicap competition. Congratulations! The top team in the overall handicap competition were the ‘SpeedESOCs’, consisting of Andrew Lindsay, Andrew Dalgleish and Craig Nolan who came 4th behind some strong teams from FVO (who had beaten them in the 6+ competition), RR and BASOC.
More information and full results from both events are available on the SOA Website
