Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club

Scottish Score Championships 2024Vogrie Country Park, 9 November

The 2024 Scottish Score was organised by Interløpers Orienteering Club, and saw a huge entry from ESOC, with lots of trophies and medals for ESOC competitors.

Vogrie Country Park is SE of Edinburgh, near Gorebridge, and has a wide variety of terrain. The parkland around Vogrie House contrasts with the steep-sided wooded valleys of the Tyne Water and its tributaries, and the map also covers a disused golf course, now quite rough and tussocky. There’s a good network of paths and tracks. The start and finish were near the car park, and controls were spread throughout the map. ESOC’s Roger Scrutton was the Controller.

The weather was dull but remained dry.

The time limits were 70 minutes for M20-35 and W21, 40 minutes for M/W14 and below, and 60 minutes for everyone else.

The ESOC trophy winners were:

  • William Atkinson (M14)
