Scottish Sprint Championships - Perth, 5 March 2011

The Scottish Sprint Championships was organised this year by TAY, and there were several ESOC members amongst the winners.

The event took place at North Muirton in Perth. This is a complex housing estate, on the north west side of the city by the River Tay (just across the river from Scone Palace). Courses zig-zagged between the houses, with many confusing alleyways, plus fences and puzzling control descriptions to add to the challenge. There was fast running on the paved areas, followed by a couple of legs in rougher ground near the river, then the finish was on grass with a great view for spectators. Registration was indoors at the Riverside Church, where there were also refreshments.

ESOC had 7 class winners (and once again some classes were very small indeed):
Kerry Wood, W10
Rona Lindsay, W18
Helen Bridle, W21
Eleanor Pyrah, W65
Andrew Lindsay, M18
Roger Scrutton, M60
Bill Gauld, M75

Other ESOC members who were in the top half of the results for their course were:
Course 1 (38 competitors) – Andrew Dalgleish 15th, Ray Ward 18th
Course 2 (70) – Mark Wood 10th=, Clive Masson 13th, Ronnie Nolan 16th=, Helena Nolan 25th, Mike Stewart 27th, Dave Kershaw 29th
Course 3 (23) – Craig Nolan 2nd

Full results are on the TAY website.
