Scottish Sprint Championships / SOUL 3 2025Tweedbank, 5 April
Roxburgh Reivers hosted this year’s Scottish Sprint Championships, followed by another race which was the third event in the 2025 Scottish Orienteering Urban League.
Emma Anderson reports:
“On Saturday 5th April, Tweedbank was the venue for two urban sprint races with the local community centre hosting the indoor event centre. A misty and slightly chilly air greeted the earlier starters in the Scottish Sprint Championship, but the sun was peeping through for those with later times. There were several ESOC tops on display, and even a 50th anniversary t-shirt, for those hoping for incentive points. The fast courses wound their way around a housing estate with alleys, underpasses, gradually making their way downhill to the park for a short grassy sprint to the line. Some close controls resulted in a couple of mispunches, but there were some fast times too.
After a brief break, a spot of lunch, and time for the sun to fully appear, it was back to the same start for the SOUL 3 race. This time the courses switched direction, headed up the bank on the other side and used more of the park. Most of us sprinted past the lovely lake, but Hanne and Calum were there soaking up the sun and cheering us all on. In general times were slower for this race as tired legs were sapped of energy, but ESOC posted some good results.”
