SOL2 - Ardnaskie, near Oban
More good results from ESOC at the latest Scottish Orienteering League event.
EckO’s SOL event was held at Ardnaskie, on the southern shore of Loch Etive, surrounded by beautiful scenery. Courses encountered a mixture of rough open areas, birch and oak woodland, and many marshes, with conifer plantation and rhododendrons towards the finish. Although there were no big hills, the event information accurately described it as an undulating area, and most courses had quite a lot of climb, plus plenty of navigational challenges. Early rain eased in time for the first starts, though it was still quite wet underfoot.
ESOC members in the top half of the results were:
Black (7 finishers) – Andrew Dalgleish 2nd
Short Brown (35) – Ross Sanderson 9th
Blue (37) – Helena Nolan 10th
Short Blue (35) – Ian Pyrah 15th
Green (33) – Rona Lindsay 1st, Jim Clark 7th, Bill Gauld 8th, Fiona Findlay 14th
Short Green (16) – Eleanor Pyrah 1st, Janet Clark 2nd, Norma Coutts 4th
Light Green (18) – Craig Nolan 4th
This event was part of EckO’s 3-in-2 weekend, with a local event at Inverawe on Saturday 25 April and a street race in Oban town that evening. Some ESOC members competed at these events too, and enjoyed lovely weather with a few sharp showers. Both classes at the street race were won by ESOC - congratulations to Andrew Dalgleish (Long) and Roger Scrutton (Short).
Full results and further details for all 3 events are on the EckO website.
