The second event of this year’s South of Scotland Orienteering League was organised by Stirling University Orienteering Club, assisted by Forth Valley Orienteers.

Callendar Park is in Falkirk, south of the town centre, and is a large area of varied parkland centred on the historic Callendar House. The terrain for this event was woodland with some intricate detail, many gullies and ditches, and some open areas, with a network of paths and tracks. The Controller’s notes before the event mentioned “quite a lot of brambles” and normally-dry ditches with water in them, and these hazards were remarked on by competitors. The start was at the west end of the area and courses criss-crossed throughout the woods, with loops on the longer courses to make the most of the area.
